Higher Education, UNDP Launch Updating Curricula of Specialized Teaching Methods

During launching ceremony of updating the curricula for specialized teaching methods in the universities and in cooperation with the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) team, Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Ministry’s Advisor, Dr. Alaa Abed Al-Hassan Attia said. Dr. Attia added that the Ministry has deliberately moved in cooperation with relevant international organizations towards updating and developing curricula and teaching mechanisms in Iraqi universities according to the methods of global developments adopted by recognized universities. Dr. Attia reviewed that the continuous development and updating of educational policies, their foundations and tools constitute a strategic basis within the comprehensive development aspect that is based on knowledge and its various forms. For his part, Director-General of Studies, Planning and Follow-up, Dr. Ihab Naji Abbas confirmed that Higher Education’s institutions in Iraq have prepared an integrated plan to update the educational system, enhance programs and curricula, take into account quality systems and academic accreditation, develop teaching mechanisms and move towards flexible education. Dr. Abbas highlighted that the Ministry has made important steps in cooperation with experts in the field of teaching methods from Iraqi universities and the United Nations Development Program. For her part , the representative of the United Nations Development Program to Iraq, Mrs. Zina Ali Ahmed said that the United Nations Development Program is keen on working and coordinating with the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research in Iraq and opening more prospects for cooperation towards keeping pace with scientific developments. Mrs. Ahmed added that this trend is to prepare and implement the unified curriculum for teaching methods in thirty-seven centers of continuing education in Iraqi universities represents an important interactive starting point in the field of modern knowledge marketing and engagement. It is worth mentioning that the ceremony included honoring with certificates of appreciation to the workers within the project to update the curricula of specialized teaching methods in the Iraqi universities.
