Kirkuk University’s Master’s Dissertation: On Geographic Information Systems Adoption to Assess Groundwater Vulnerability Areas

College of Science, University of Kirkuk discussed a master dissertation on the methods of adopting geographic information systems to analyze criteria for assessing groundwater vulnerabilities in the Laylan Secondary Basin, Kirkuk/Northeastern Iraq by the postgraduate student, Mr. Najm Khaled. The dissertation aimed at using of RS and Geographical Information Systems (GIS) techniques through a number of high-efficiency models to assess the hydrogeological and hydrological realities of the Laylan Secondary Basin region. The dissertation recommended the necessity of adopting the results of the current study for the purposes of planning and future expansion of the various uses of the region in terms of agricultural, industrial and residential terms.
