Kirkuk University’s Master's Dissertation: On Relation between Vitamin D Levels & Blood - Serological Variables of Diabetes Mellitus Patients

College of Science, University of Kirkuk discussed a master's dissertation the relation between vitamin D levels and some blood and serological variables in patients with type 2 diabetes by the postgraduate student, Mr. Omar Aboud Hussein. The dissertation reviewed the effect of high blood sugar on some blood variables, including hemoglobin percentage, red blood cell count, eggs, the percentage of compacted blood cells, the percentage of glycated hemoglobin and some serum variables, including lipid profile and kidney function, as well as C-reactive protein and cortisol level. And evaluate the relationship between vitamin D level and the mentioned criteria. The dissertation highlighted that the direct relation between the level of C-reactive protein and the level of blood sugar and between vitamin D and cholesterol in diabetic patients who control the disease, while there was a significant inverse correlation between vitamin D and each of lymphocytes, monocytes, cholesterol and C-reactive protein, and a relation positive correlation between vitamin D and blood urea level in uncontrolled diabetic patients. The dissertation demonstrated that controlling the complications of diabetes by following up on HbA1c is insufficient for people with type 2 diabetes and needs to monitor the percentage of fats in the blood, and that most people with type 2 diabetes suffer from vitamin D deficiency, and more than half of those with type 2 diabetes Under study (56%) were suffering from psychological disorders and their cortisol level was high compared to the control group.
